Available aka "Ike"
Available by Idle (93)-Make’ n Room (84), by Mac
Diarmida (75)
1998 Bay Gelding
Ike is an off the track Thoroughbred that has been on the farm for about
two years. He was donated to the farm by owner/ trainer Pam L. Smith. Ike only
won a little over $24,000. He has been turned out in the gelding field and is a remarkably easy keeper. He
has a very strong build and shiny coat. We are amazed at how good he looks!
Pam Smith did some trail riding with Ike and a little ring work. She let us know
that he was not crazy about ring work… a lot of us are the same way… We have
started working Ike in one of the big fields and feel he would enjoy competitive
trail. Would you like to sponsor Ike?

After the Race aka "Racey"
After the Race by Siberian Express (81)-All My
Promises (87), by Hawaii (64)
1997 Gray or Roan Gelding
Racy came to the farm during the fall of ‘03. He was adopted from
Rerun and will spend the rest of his life on Bethlehem Farm.
He raced a whopping 49 times in his 4 ½ year career, and won a
little over $70,000.
We were told that Racey experienced some abuse during his career.
We don’t know how severe it was, we only know that he is very
cautious around people. We move slowly around him and speak softly.
When he is confident that you are not going to hurt him, he is a big
mush. He loves his face and withers scratched. He will then stand
with a hind foot cocked and let his guard down completely. He has a
wonderful, peaceful nature.
Racey is a lifetime resident at Bethlehem Farm, he needs to be on
a joint supplement.

Ed Bowen
Ed Bowen by Artax (95)-Godmother (96), by
Show’em Slew (85)
2002 Dark Bay or Brown Gelding
Eddy is an off the track Thoroughbred that has
been on the farm for about a year. He was donated to the farm by the
North American Racing Academy. Eddy is one of the sweetest horses on
the farm and has an excellent temperament. He is very good friends
with our spotted draft, Bennett. Eddie had a short career as a
racehorse and only managed to win only $6,300 for Dogwood Stables.
Ed is enjoying the large “gelding field” and grazes the day away. We
are working on putting weight on him and will start riding him soon.
He had about a year of training as a jumper prior to going to the
racing school. He was experiencing some lameness and was not
suitable for galloping at the racing academy. We decided to give him
some time off and allow him to relax and heal.

Lyrical Fantasy aka "Fantasy"
Lyrical Fantasy by Silver Music (91)-Pass the
Groom (93), by Runaway Groom (79)
1999 Chestnut Mare
Fantasy is an off the track Thoroughbred that has been on the
farm for a few years. She was in training with one of the girls
about a year ago and learned leg yielding, lead changes and w/t/c
and is a very nice mover. She is now working with one of our new
girls and has started over cross rails. Fantasy didn’t do very well
as a race horse but she is excelling in the ring as a hunter jumper
prospect.
Fantasy is sensitive and doesn’t like to be touched at the
top of her head; however she loves to be groomed and squirted with
the water hose! She and her girl are getting along wonderfully.

Gabby and Haze
Breeding unknown at this time
Bay Mare - Chestnut Mare
"The Old Mares"
(We are currently
researching tattoo numbers to uncover the past of these two mares.)
Gabby and Haze are a package deal, they are
inseparable. Gabby is 29 and Haze is 30. They are permanent
residents of the farm. Both mares were found in
a field in Florida near death. They had been abandoned with no food
or water for what must have been an eternity. The mares were rescued
by Old Friends in Midway, KY and brought directly to Bethlehem Farm.
Here, they were lovingly cared for, blanketed and fed a special diet
to bring them back from their terrible ordeal.
The mares are kept together at all times. They are in a peaceful
paddock with a big shady tree located near the riding ring. They
hang their heads over the fence and watch the other horses work,
just like a couple of old gals watching TV.
Gabby and Haze are lifetime resident at Bethlehem Farm. Older horses
have special dietary and supplement needs that are costly.
